Who We Are

We are a dedicated group of volunteers working year round to promote the core values of the Green Party of Canada. The Green Party of Canada is founded on six key principles that were adopted at the 2002 convention of the Global Greens. These principles are:

• ecological wisdom
• non-violence
• social justice
• sustainability
• participatory democracy
• respect for diversity

We help to advance these issues in North Vancouver by taking part in as many community events as we can. We are a grassroots organization and have a very active group of members – we’d love to have you join us! Please sign up for information on our next upcoming meeting by filling in your details under the “Contact” tab.

Meet some of our volunteers

David Hunter

David Hunter

CEO

Dave is a retired computer software executive who wants to help get more Green Party members elected and believes that we can have influence far beyond the number of seats we win. The policies of other parties typically focus on the next election, whereas Green Party policies focus on the next generation, which is what motives him.

Alison Watt

Alison Watt

Alison joined the Green Party after hearing Elizabeth May talk about the issues of importance to the Green Party and felt inspired to get involved. She has a background in administration and had the honour to co-share the role of Office Administrator for Claire Martin’s 2015 campaign.  She has lived in North Vancouver since 1990, and together with husband Robb raised two children here on “The Shore”.
Claudia Cornwall

Claudia Cornwall

Financial Agent

Claudia is a prize-winning author of six books and over fifty magazine articles. She has been an enthusiastic member of the North Vancouver EDA since its inception in 2004.

Colin Cargill

Colin Cargill

Colin’s work in architecture and interior design introduced him to environmental issues. He became committed to improving our stewardship of the environment on behalf of his grandchildren.

Simon Rear

Simon Rear

Simon is a member of the North Vancouver EDA Executive board, and an active member of both the Green Party of Canada and the BC Green Party. Simon is an avid outdoor enthusiast, and enjoys hiking, camping, and all other means of appreciating the natural beauty BC has to offer.

Betsy Agar

Betsy Agar

Betsy is recovering from a career in engineering in Ontario at Renewable Cities, SFU Centre for Dialouge. That said, her work centres her squarely in renewable energy and energy efficiency discussions that stir her old rehabilitation juices, and she is thrilled to be on the West Coast where people cannot help but strive for better. In her spare time she loads up her Prius with Green Party signs to deliver to fellow supporters because the Green Party of Canada is pushing the boundaries of innovation in sustainable, resilient policies, which is ultimately what will put Canada back in the leadership role in which this rich, resourceful, proud nation it can and should be

Kathy and Nick Burman

Kathy and Nick Burman

Nick and Kathy Burman have been Green supporters since 2002 when they first joined the Green Party. We were involved in creating a strong EDA in Calgary. The EDA had a Green candidate who ran against Jim Prentice and got almost 16% of he votes. This picture with the youngest of our four grandchildren represents why we are Green. The children are the future that will benefit from  the principles of ecological wisdom, social justice, participatory democracy, nonviolence, respect for diversity and sustainability.
